The second 2011 workshop took place in Brussels, Belgium on September 29th – 30th (lunch to lunch). The title of the workshop is Stem cell therapy for neurological diseases: translation to the clinic. The workshop covered four themes:
The Clinical Perspective;
Safety and Regulatory Issue;
Intellectual Property Issues Related to Stem Cell and Research Structure;
Funding Schemes Needed for Translational Research and Commercialization.
Besides invited speakers, the audience comprised of NeuroStemcell principal investigators, post-docs and PhD students belonging to the NeuroStemcell consortium. A lot of the time for each session was devoted to discussions, which were lively and truly engaged the audience.
As a new communication experience, Andrew Smith tweeted from NeuroStemcell workshop. His tweets were collated with links to some of the things discussed using Storify, to preserve a record of the workshop and for those who missed the original tweets.
